How to take a horse's temperature?

• temperature is measured rectally – the thermometer is inserted into the horse's rectum
• before measurement, apply a little petroleum jelly or oil to the thermometer
• hold the thermometer throughout the measurement
• normal horse temperature: 37.5–38.5°C
